Officially recognized in 1834, Marietta was already home to a sizable community. In the early years, the town was a home base for a railroad project, and during the Civil War Marietta was pillaged and set on fire by Union soldiers. Today, it’s one of the most populous cities in Georgia.
Marietta has no shortage of things to do. From the Aviation Wing of Marietta museum to historic homes and gardens to haunted tours, locals and visitors alike will find plenty of opportunities for learning and enjoying this vibrant southern city.
