If the only hot tubs you’ve looked at have been sold by retailers, you may have come away with a case of sticker shock. However, if you purchase your hot tub from a manufacturer, those prices start to go down. Here’s a great place to start when looking for how much hot tubs cost.
The general pricing parameters of hot tubs sold by a manufacturer:
- 110V spas: $1,000 to $5,000
- 220V spas: $3,000 to $7,000
- Swim spas: $7,500 to $10,000
Let’s look a little deeper into hot tub prices.
General Hot Tub Pricing – How much a hot tub costs!
Hot tubs sold by manufacturers typically fall into a few general categories based on their voltage and capabilities.
110V Spas | 220V Spas | Swim Spas | |
Price range | $2,000 – $5,000 | $3,000 – $7,000 | $7,500 – $10,000 |
110V Spas
Spas that require only 110 Volts of electricity are known as 110V spas. Although they don’t have as much power as 220V spas, they still offer a luxurious spa experience, massaging jets and many of the same premium features. These hot tubs are typically the most affordable but sometimes come with less amenities than their larger 220V counterparts.
They’re also advantageous in that they’re much easier to install than 220V spas — no additional electrical work is required, just a normal outlet.
Price: These types of spas generally run from about $2,000 to $5,000.
220V Spas
Spas that require 220 Volts of electricity, known as 220V spas, use twice as much power as their 110V counterparts. This means that they can better retain heat, offer more powerful jets and run a variety of additional features without struggling, such as MP3 audio systems, waterfalls or TVs.
However, they usually require additional electrical work prior to installation, and thus may take longer to install than a 110V spa.
Price: These types of spas generally run from about $3,000 to$7,000.

Swim Spas
Swim spas are hot tubs that are specially designed to allow users to swim against the flow of a continuous current. They can be outfitted with various exercise accessories, and often include some of the same features as normal hot tubs, such as massaging jets, LED lighting and MP3 audio systems.
Many swimmers prefer swim spas to pools because they have a much smaller footprint and don’t require nearly as much hands-on maintenance.
Price: These types of spas generally run from about $7,500 to$10,000.
Factors That Affect Hot Tub Prices
Within each general hot tub category, there is a slew of factors that can greatly affect the total price.
Capacity
Some hot tubs seat just one person, while others seat as many as seven. Since additional space requires the hot tub to heat more water and power more jets, the larger a hot tub’s capacity, the more it will cost.
Electronics
Although all modern hot tubs come equipped with electronic controls, other electronic features such as MP3 audio systems, TVs, LED lighting systems and Bluetooth capabilities can contribute to a higher price tag.
Number of Jets
The number of jets a hot tub is equipped with goes up with its seating capacity, although some models are equipped with extra jets for a more therapeutic experience. Depending on the number of jets you want, your final hot tub price can go up or down. A lot of our customers feel like it’s worth it to pay a little more and get a higher number of powerful jets. It’s an easy way to make the cost of a hot tub worth it!
Design
While lower-priced hot tubs often feature simple, contemporary designs in basic colors, higher-priced hot tubs usually feature more elaborate designs in a rainbow of unique colors. Some hot tubs also allow the customer to choose the color of each exterior component, from the shell to the steps.

Optional Upgrades change price of hot tub
Many hot tubs are available with a wide array of optional upgrades, each of which typically adds to the final price. These types of upgrades can include:
- LED-illuminated jets
- WiFi controls
- Cover lifter
- Side handrail
- Booster seat
- Floating drink station
- Extended warranty
- Water purifier
- Chemical kit
- Additional filters
- Different acrylic colors
Insulation
Just like insulation in a house, hot tub insulation helps the tub maintain the user’s ideal water temperature for a longer period of time. Hot tubs with partial foam insulation usually cost less than those with full foam insulation.
